The day started with probably the most entertaining game of the day with the Junior U16 teams from the Western Wolves and Metro Lions doing battle. Whilst the Metro Club is one of the founding Clubs of the league, the Western Wolves is a very new Club and this was their first finals appearance. The Wolves team shot out to a 20-0 lead at Half Time and managed to hold off a strong comeback from the Metro Lions taking the Wolves first Auckland Championship 20-18.
In the U19 Colts Division, the two strongest Club teams from the regular season came up against each other again. The Metro Lions, and the South Auckland Raiders. The Raiders had the better if the Lions through the regular season and despite a small squad with many players playing both Offense and Defense, the Raiders came out on top 18-0.
In the Mens Premier Kiwibowl, the reigning champion Paptoetoe Wildcats went back to back by overcoming a resurgent South Auckland Raiders Club 14-6. The Wildcats Defense was impenetrable for most of the game aside from a Kick Return TD, and the Wildcats now have 7 Kiwibowl Championships to their name.
