THE 2018 WELLINGTON INVITATION FLAG TOURNAMENT

This weekend – March 24 and 25 – NZAFF is staging an inaugural Invitational Flag Tournament which is to become an annual fixture on flag football’s competition calendar.

The event, which has attracted five teams from around the country, will be held in Wellington in conjunction with American Football Wellington (AFW), the regional gridiron body who are acting as hosts for the event.

Games will be played at Crawford Green Park in Miramar with the tournament set to get underway on Saturday morning with the Round One game scheduled to start at 9:30 am.

Two local Wellington teams – the Wellington Wolves and Hutt Valley Spartans – are set to do battle with visiting teams from Auckland (Tamaki Lightning), the Waikato (the Hamilton Hawks) and the one South Island representative team, the Nelson Honey Badgers. They will be vying for the honour of being the first winner of the Invitational Flag Shield.

Results will be posted as the tournament rolls out over the two days and can be followed below with further information to be found here.
