At the 2021 Annual General Meeting a nomination was put forward to have George O'Scanlon recognised for his efforts with an award.

The vote was unanimous in favour of George being awarded a posthumous Life Membership Award.

Many of the pioneers of NZ football nicknamed George “The Godfather of Football in NZ”. We think his story has earned him the apt title.
