WHO WE ARE
Te Runanga o Whutuporo I Amerika ki Aotearoa | New Zealand American Football Federation is the governing body of the sport of American Football in New Zealand. American Football has been present in Aotearoa New Zealand since the late 1970’s, with the first official competition being staged in 1982 in Auckland. Since then, the sport has spread across the nation with over 12,000 participants currently participating in Football activities. The growth of Flag Football has spurred a new demographic joining our sport and the code has been included as a new sport at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Our vision for NZ American Football (NZAFF) is to become the fastest growing sport in Aotearoa over the next decade. We want to see our members achieving internationally and our Federation recognised as delivering best practice in governance.
WHERE YOU FIT
This new shared role will support the growth and delivery of American Football and NFL Flag in New Zealand.
You will work closely with both NZAFF and NFL stakeholders, contributing to the development of programmes, events, and pathways that inspire participation and enhance the experience of players, coaches, and communities throughout Aotearoa.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
For NZAFF (approx. 50%)
Administer and support current and upcoming NZAFF programmes and projects
Assist the GM and the existing Program Coordinator with event delivery (e.g. Nationals, development tournaments).
Support the development and delivery of national youth programmes.
Coordinate coach education and qualification requirements.
Assist with recruitment initiatives for clubs and regional associations.
Contribute to presentations and reports that support NZAFF’s strategic pathway.
For NFL AUS/NZ (approx. 50%)
Support the delivery of the NZ-based NFL Flag programme.
Liaise with the Australia-based NFL team and work with the NFL Programme Manager in NZ to deliver initiatives.
Assist with planning and logistics for NFL Flag events (regional and national tournaments, school activations, ad hoc events).
Support NFL Flag coach development activities.
Provide input into presentations, documents, and special projects.
Shared Responsibilities

Ensure alignment with strategic goals of both organisations.
Work collaboratively to support special projects and initiatives.
Promote a spirit of teamwork, cooperation, and growth across both organisations.
IDEALLY, YOU’LL HAVE …
·        Practical understanding of project coordination and/or management.
·        Experience working or volunteering in community sport.
·        Strong attention to detail and ability to gather/process information.
·        Tech-savvy with good command of relevant digital tools.
·        Legal entitlement to work in New Zealand.
