Team NZ have arrived in Lahti, Finland

After a journey of more than 40hours and 16,500km travelled, the New Zealand Flag Football contingent of 38 have safely arrived at the athletes village Pajulahti Sports Institute.

The 2024 IFAF World Flag Football Championship, kicks off this week, both our teams play their opening matches this Tuesday 27th August 2024 @ 8.45pm NZT. All games will be live streamed, free, courtesy of ifaf.tv

The group have already been out on the turf to jog off the jet lag.

Tomorrow our wahine will enjoy a friendly scrimmage with the host nation, Finland.

Then the entire contingent will convene for our athletes to receive their playing kit at the official NZ jersey ceremony. We look forward to seeing these special moments unfold via social media.

Head of Delegation, Steph Murray, is happy to report our teams are in high spirits “getting really excited now that the championship is well within reach” she mentions that the meal offerings in the village are quite unique - but we can be assured our athletes' nutritional needs are well taken care of. Highlight Breakfast Items > Green Spinach & Carrot Pancakes.
